DR. LAURA SCHWERIN
Dr. Laura Schwerin is a psychologist licensed in Oregon, California, Colorado, Iowa, Vermont, Hawaii, and South Carolina. She is also authorized to practice telepsychology in the 39 PSYAPCT states. In addition to using cognitive behavioral and family systems approaches to treat anxiety and mood disorders, she specializes in treating present-day problems in adults that have their roots in trauma in childhood and adulthood as well as in unmet childhood needs. This includes:
- adults with complex trauma wounds inflicted by verbal, emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse; and
- adults with attachment wounds, such as those inflicted by parental rejection, neglect, and enmeshment.
In addition to being in private practice since 1997, Dr. Laura worked
- as a psychologist and chaplain at the Palo Alto VA with individuals experiencing PTSD and other psychiatric illnesses and
- as Manager of Mental Health at Hazelden Springbrook, in Newberg, Oregon, she developed and launched their Integrated Trauma and Addiction program.
EDUCATION
Dr. Laura has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA, as well as a Master of Sacred Theology in Pastoral Care and a Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA. She is currently a Naturopathic Doctor student at National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR.
She has been a psychologist since 1997 and an ordained minister since 1983. As a psychologist she has worked with individual and coupled adults, adolescents and children. Dr. Laura is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA).
She is licensed in Oregon (#1285), California (#21854), South Carolina (#1722), Iowa (#112530), Vermont (048.0134301), Colorado (#0005631), and Hawaii (1978).
